Ahmadinejad brands BBC’s Royal Jubilee coverage “boring”

TEHRAN: Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sensationally savaged the British Broadcasting Corporation for its coverage of the Royal Jubilee celebrations in London, laying into the “mind-numbingly inane” commentary and the “pathetic” line up of presenters.

“Did they have to keep cutting away from the heartwarming shots of Queen Liz on the Royal Barge to take us to that god-awful Tess Daly woman?” he told The Iranian Parliament during its weekly President’s Question Time. “I mean, I know it was raining, but they really made it look like a complete damp squib of an event.”

Similar sentiments were echoed from a secret hideout in Pakistan, where Ayman Al-Zawahiri accused the BBC of being “uncharacteristically lamentable” in its weekend Jubilee series of shows.

In his latest video sent to Al-Jazeera, the al-Qaeda managing director said the broadcaster had used “bad camera angles of the boats and scarcely credible presenting,” adding that he “switched to Sky about halfway through”.

However, Al-Zawahiri did admit that his judgement may have been impaired by the “dodgy” VPN internet connection enabling him to watch the live coverage on BBC iPlayer.
