Al Jazeera further postpones broadcast of pro-Morsi series ‘The Boys from da ‘Hood’

Qatari broadcaster cites “further post-production complications”

DOHA: Citing “further post-production complications”, Qatar-based television broadcaster Al Jazeera yesterday announced that it would be again pushing back the broadcast of its big-budget pro-Morsi drama series ‘The Boyz from da ‘Hood’.

Al Jazeera had been originally due to debut the show on July 2, but postponed following “unforeseen scheduling issues”. The rearranged screening of July 11 was cancelled after a “studio mix-up”.

The Boyz from da ‘Hood – described as an “informative and edge-of-the-seat retelling of Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood’s glittering first 12 months in power” – is reported to have cost Al Jazeera “around $50 million” to produce.
