Boom time back as illegal romps on rise

Latest sex-in-a-taxi scandal sign Dubai economy is returning to glory days, claim economists

DUBAI: While the latest ‘sex-in-a-cab’ scandal might be bad news for two randy Brits, the news has brought a smile to the faces of many regional economists, who are now suggesting the upswing in illegal romping is a sign the emirate is “back on track”.

“This backseat bonking story is a sure fire indication that the boom times of old are returning,” said Professor Morgan Stanley-Knife, head of Doha-based Gulf Friskal Fiscal Research Centre. “A few more cases of boozed-up expats getting jiggy in public and Dubai should have made a full recovery back to the glory days of 2007.”
