British expat yet to tire of telling London friends about “real heat”

With much of the UK basking in unusually warm weather the past week, a British expat living in Dubai has reportedly not yet exhausted his enthusiasm for informing acquaintances back home what a summer in the Middle East feels like.

Londoner Daniel Higginbotham, 27, claims to have posted “in excess of 2,000” messages on various social media platform in response to those in the UK discussing its current climate.

“I’ve probably written ‘Call that hot?!?! Try living in Dubai!’ at least 200 times on Facebook,” said the junior sales manager, who only moved to the UAE in April. “I’m now drifting between ‘Ha! That’s nothing. 49 degrees yesterday. In the shade! #RealHeat’ and, ‘You’re having a laugh right? That wouldn’t even see me break into a sweat!’.”

According to colleagues, Higginbotham hasn’t spent any longer than three seconds away from air conditioning since he arrived in Dubai.

I just think of Ray Winstone, oiled up by a pool in a pair of canary yellow budgie-smugglers, and all is OK with a Dubai summer.
