Shops and other businesses across the emirate of Dubai were reportedly frantically attempting to come up with ways to brazenly take advantage of the new ruling over same-sex marriages in the U.S. yesterday.
“Absolutely everyone is talking about it, especially on social media, so it would be a crying shame not to flagrantly jump on the bandwagon in order to increase sales,” said Dina Mansour, managing director of the Tops N’ Fingers beauty salon chain. “But obviously there’s no way we could say anything about, you know, the gays.”
Mansour said she was considering a special ‘Rainbow Package’ special offer to mark the occasion, and has already started incorporating the rainbow colours into her online marketing material.
Elsewhere, Frederick Demato, marketing director of the Allied Car Showroom said he was hoping to introduce a new offer on his Lexus range under the banner of ‘One Love’.
“I’m thinking of using an image of two attractive guys sitting in the front seats smiling at each other, you know, so people get the message of our bald-faced attempt to drum up business using the same-sex marriage ruling but without actually saying anything about homosexuality and offending anyone,” he said.
“It’s just a shame that it’s landed slap bang in the middle of Ramadan, so we’ll have to work it around our Holy Month marketing campaign.”

I heard some took advantage of the free flight offer to their country of origin, after spending time in free 5 star accommodation provided by the local penitentiary system.
