Dubai calls for more food bloggers

Without more scenes like this, important dining questions are being left unanswered, claim authorities

DUBAI: A chronic shortage of food bloggers is leaving a gaping knowledge gap among Dubai’s restaurant-goers, claimed authorities yesterday.

“Our latest figures put the number of food bloggers across Dubai at a mere 1.32 million,” said Mohana Sklllet of the UAE Hospitality Association’s e-division.

“Given that we’re a city of over two million, with a vast array of lip-smacking dessert options and scrummy treats on offer, this is a truly worrying situation to be in.”

Skillet indicated that restaurants and foodies had been calling out for more coverage from the online community.

“Every morning, people are taking to the internet asking – what did the people of Dubai have for dinner last night? Which delish dish did their partner ‘plump for’? How divinely did the flavours mingle? These are questions, and they need answering.”

A new course will train wannabe bloggers to take badly-lit shots of food, like this one

To help encourage more people to share their mouth-watering dining experiences online, the organisation is going to offer free courses for those interested in joining Dubai’s blogging gourmets.

“Our 6-week ‘e-Winner’ course will cover all aspects of quality amateur food blogging, including taking wonky photos of dishes in poor light with your iPhone, coming up with cutesy Twitter handles like @DXBfoodiequeen and @mezzeeater, and adding captions such as ‘YUM! Gym time tomorrow methinks!”, said Skillet.

I have been using yadig.com lately, I find the reviews to be honest and real. Blogs are good but the are the opionion of one person. At least on yadig.com you get the opions of thousands.

Thank you Mark from yadig.com! Anyone else out with a comment, ideally one that refers to their own website?

I hope nobody comes around here and insults the cupcake, cupcake stands, cupcake home business and the cupcake delivery for all your party needs. They’re now a Dubai institution..barf.

Livin in Qatar we only get to eat pigeon & Iraqi potatoes, normally in a stew or if there is no stew available we have it in a pie – if no pastry – then we have it in a pasty.

Hopefully good food will come to Doha, once all the art masterpieces have arrived that is.
