The image of Sergio Ramos crying after Spain lost on penalties to Russia in the 2018 World Cup is being carved in stone.

Renowned Egyptian artist Mostafa G has been commissioned by the culture authority to make a seven-metre tall granite sculpture of the much-watched moment where the Spain and Real Madrid defender crouched with his head in his hands, with the finished piece expected to be given a prominent positioning in Cairo’s Tahrir Square.

“I really want to capture this incredible sporting moment in all its glory, and not just the look of distress on Ramos’ face,” said Mostafa. “Every detail is going to be there, right down to his fucking terrible hand tattoos and that comically shit haircut.”
