Gloria Gaynor’s upcoming GCC tour cancelled “just to be on the safe side”
With reports of a clamp down on gays entering the GCC, organisers of Gloria Gayner’s first Gulf tour have decided to pull the plug on as a precautionary act. “Things have a habit of getting a bit mixed up on the administrative side of things over here, so we just thought we’d better cancel [the tour] to be on the safe side,” said a spokesman for LGBT Events.
Meanwhile, organisers of next month’s international athletics meet in Kuwait have revealed that they are “somewhat relieved” that US sprinter Tyson Gay is currently facing a doping ban and would not be looking to compete. “We can only imagine what would have happened should someone at immigration have seen his passport,” said a source.
