Hammour takes top spot again at awards ceremony

Fish walks home with coveted ‘Fish of the Year’ gong for the 24th time and is also awarded Lifetime Achievement Award at glittering ceremony



ABU DHABI: Hammour last night scooped the coveted ‘Fish of the Year 2012’ gong at the annual Fish and Fisheries Awards ceremony held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. The fish also walked home with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, in honour of its long-standing influence in regional kitchens.

It’s the 24th time hammour has won the Fish of the Year award in the 25 years the ceremony has been running. Halibut controversially took the top spot in 1997 following a computing error.

    theres something fishy going on if they can win 24 years in a row… the jury are a bunch of sharks that need gutting and re-plaiced. Give us a ray of hope for the scales of justice

    not sure the other competitors can take such a battering year after year… they need to fillet with new categories so the new fry can help the tide turn away from these bottom feeders
