Iranian State TV declares Argo Oscars win a “victory for Iran”

TEHRAN: Following tonight’s dramatic win for Argo at the Academy Awards, Iranian state TV has described the result as a stunning victory for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“The Oscar success of this tense thriller set during the glorious 1979 revolution is a triumph for our magnificent nation over the West,” it said in a news broadcast, adding that the country was “absolutely over-the-moon for Anne Hathaway”.
