Israel justice minister calls for “considerable upward revision” to ‘eye for an eye’ doctrine

Tzipi Livni looking to update principle in coming days

TEL AVIV: Israel’s Justice Minister has suggested that the current ‘eye for an eye’ principle needs a “considerable upward revision” following recent events in the West Bank.

Speaking to reporters, Tzipi Livni urged the international community to bring the doctrine into the 21st century.

“We’re currently aiming for eight eyes for an eye at the very least, but are hoping to push this number up considerably in the coming days,” she said.

    The Justice Minister borrowed a few lines from Eye of the Tiger as he said this was nothing personal but “Just a man and his will to survive” before walking off with a giddy look on his face
