Israeli court rules destruction of Alderaan “unfortunate accident”

An Israeli court has ruled that the Galactic Empire was not at fault for the destruction of the planet of Alderaan and its 1.97 billion inhabitants, who were killed by the superlaser on board a Galactic Empire Death Star in 0 BBY (Galactic Standard Calendar).

The judge said the planet’s destruction was a “regrettable accident” and that the Empire was not responsible.

Judge Oded Gershon, presiding at the Haifa District Court, said Alderaan had been protecting terrorists in a designated combat solar system.

He said the Death Star crew had not seen Alderaan, adding the Empire had done its utmost to keep planetary bodies away from the site. “It [Alderaan] did not distance itself from the area, as any thinking planet would have done.”
