Israel’s anticipated new ruling coalition expected to be so far right it will meet left-wing Socialists “around the back”

TEL AVIV: With Benjamin Netanyahu leading the polls ahead of tomorrow’s elections, an Israeli political thinktank has said that the prime minister’s new hardline coalition has swung so far to the right that it could meet far-left Socialists around the other side.

“Netanyahu’s Likud-Yisrael Beiteinu alliance has moved so much to the right in recent weeks to keep ahead that all they’d need to do was to stretch out with their left hands and they’d be able to touch the Socialists with the tips of their fingers,” said Maya Wendall of the Tel Aviv-based Ronny Rosenthal Institute. “Of course, we don’t expect them to do that.”
