Jordan to be renamed Hash Brown Kingdom of Jordan

AMMAN: For the upcoming month of November, the country of Jordan will be officially renamed The Hash Brown Kingdom of Jordan, following an exclusive sponsorship deal with fast food chain McDonald’s.

Under the arrangement, which was signed this morning in Amman, all official documentation using the country’s full name, including airport stamps and headed notepaper, will be changed.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with this new relationship with the people of Jordan to help promote our deliciously crispy and toasty breakfast snack made with real Russet potatoes,” a McDonald’s spokesman said in a press release. “We look forward to a month of celebrations across our restaurants in the Hash Brown Kingdom of Jordan this November.”

According to insiders close to the deal, McDonald’s outbid a rival offer from Unilever that would have seen the country renamed the Marmite Kingdom of Jordan.
