Katie Price to sue Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Glamour model and celebrated children’s author issues warning to Amman claiming global trademark of name
AMMAN: British Glamour model and renowned children’s author Katie Price yesterday issued a warning to government officials in Amman over the name ‘Jordan’, claiming that her celebrity profile was now enough to secure its full global trademark.
“I can’t believe that them Jordanese folk have been using my name for so long,” the disgusted model told reporters yesterday at the launch of her own range of charcoal, or weapons-grade plutonium or something, before going on to describe the time when she first found out.
“I hadn’t not never heard of it before, then one of my nan’s friends said she was going to Jordan on holiday and I knew she wasn’t talking about me.”
Katie Price’s solicitors, Bed, Knobs & Broomsticks, are claiming that, with 185 autobiographies and 65 reality TV shows already under her belt, the model has a far greater international connection to the name ‘Jordan’ than the country of Jordan, which has so far only been the setting for Lawrence of Arabia and a few rubbisher films.
“We strongly feel that Jordan is using the fame and enormous goodwill of Jordan’s name to attract people to its country,” they said in a statement, adding that they were calling for “damages of $1 billion or an immediate cessation of the name ‘Jordan’ by King Abdullah and his fellow countrymen”.

it may be small , but the events that are going on world wide make it renowned. its cultural heritage has the city of Petra ranked one of the new 7 world wonders. HM king Abdullah has made a huge effort in solving the palestinian-israeli conflict , as well as putting Jordan on the map. it has the word’s lowest point ( the dead sea). If you do as much as read the newspaper, the bible , or just turn on the news on your TV , it’s inevitable for you to hear about jordan. If size mattered , the elephant would be the king of the Jungle.

2nd: I am “Jordanese” and just to point out the irony here of this comment and others:
The UK gave Jordan its independence in 1946 ending the British Mandate.
Brits brought Faraday, Shakespeare and Churchill to the world, along with Katie. Jordan, a former British colony brought.. well, nothing special except a few entrepreneurs that were blessed to have Western (e.g. British) education.
Americans being dumb is just another stereotype that can be proven wrong by tens of years of innovation and, obviously, ruling the world.

Some of those making comments think it unfair to make fun of people who took this report seriously when they might not have “got” culturally specific references such as “Bed, Knobs & Broomsticks” used as the supposed name of Jordan’s solicitors. OK then – so how about allegedly having made the comments “launch of her own range of charcoal, or weapons-grade plutonium or something” .. erm did this non-culturally specific phrase not trigger some suspicion that this was a spoof?

Now look people my husband who is Jordanian and only been living in the west for about 7 years read this article and told me that some woman called Katie price was suing Jordan for so much money because they were infringing on her name. I asked to read the article and very quickly realized it was a joke, as how stupid could she possibly be and the funny references in the article. My husband is not going to get some of the references eg the bed, knobs and broomsticks and neither are most non westerners so you shouldn’t give them a hard time, plus seriously I watched song, marry, avoid on tv the other night don’t tell me the British are not a pack of stupid slappers!

it is an obvious fake article and I’m sure the creator is loving the comment attention, to the one who wrote race, I so agree on the mis-understanding, I’m Scottish born, but actually born in England, but we are considered white-anglo-saxon race? I talk to people from other countries on websites, better than watching ill-reported news or fake web stories such as these. And I’m sure this model never said these things.

Everyone know what satire is! tongue in cheek joking! why argue over something not real, but of course internal commentary arguements always prevail on any article. sad

I was not going to step in over this but to keep the hysteria from rising, although I normally solve these things under the radar, for no reward or expectation of an honour of some form bestowed by Queen Elizabeth II, please leave this to me. I have just returned toThe Occident after a decade (12 years) of living in Amman. We solved similar with Sporty Spice and Plymouth Argylle FC. Plymouth is a posh soccer club called, fondly, locally as Pompey and updated recently to Mumpai. Both parties had to prove they were ‘sporty’. Both did and look at what has happpened; we don’t want a repeat of that episode with the weather the way it is. She’s a big girl and all grown up now. I’ll get back to you on what she will allow. Forget about the basket player as he is American.

If it is true that Katie Price’s name “Jordon” appears in the Bible, this could be very dangerous. Look what the Jews did to the Palestinians based on the Bible. Prices lawyers may have a good case to claim the whole of he Hashemite Kingdom of Jordon based on precedent of the Israelites being mentioned in the Bible.

A country less than a 100 years old. And The name of the river of Jordan was mentioned in the Bible but there was no Jordan back then.

What’s so sweet about this story – and thus makes even more piquant the ludicrously outraged complaints about it – is that it’s a joke about the overweening celebrity culture in the UK, and not about the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at all.
