Kuwaiti tyre burning facility to take part in Earth Hour by turning office light off

tyrefireKUWAIT: Building on its efforts to raise awareness about the need for sustainable environmental solutions and to educate people about climate change and conservation efforts, the Kuwait Tyre Burning Plant will be participating in this year’s Earth Hour.

From 20:30 – 21:30pm on March 23, the enormous tyre burning facility, which burns an estimated 40,000 tyres each day, will be turning off the solitary light in its main office.

“Earth Hour is a hugely important event to help spread the message of sustainable environmental solutions and we’re delighted to be a part of it,” said Kuwait Tyre Burning Plant’s general manager Fahad Al Dosary.

“And besides, nobody is usually in the office at that time anyway.”

Just another pathetic piece of green window dressing. Instead of mindlessly following the masses, why not do something to make REAL change, like changing the bulbs to CFLs or LEDs? Come on Kuwait, you can do better.
