Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s personal uranium enrichment programme blamed for failure of Iranian nuclear deal

Negotiators place blame squarely on activity in former president’s garden shed

Former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been blamed for the inability of Iran and the west to reach a historic nuclear deal this week.

According to insiders working closely on the agreement, Ahmadinejad’s own personal uranium enrichment programme, which he has stated on several occasions was for the sole purpose of developing a nuclear weapon, caused talks to break down, with the deadline pushed back by a further seven months.

“Honestly, when it comes to the number of centrifuges and enrichment capacities, the whole country is absolutely fine with the sole exception of what Ahmadinejad’s got cooking in his garden shed,” said a source.
