ABU DHABI: MC Hammer wowed fans at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival last night. The rapper and dance star jetted into town for the world premiere of his documentary Here Comes The Hammer and kept the hundreds who had queued up by the red carpet at the glittering Emirates Palace delighted, posing for photographs and signing album covers.

“I’m honoured to be here,” the baggy-trousered musician told an enraptured ensemble of celebrity-spotters, before performing one of his signature dance moves for the TV cameras. “I’ve never been to the Middle East before, but it’s always held a special place in my heart. Everyone has been very kind to me so far.”

Asked whether he would like to perform or record a music video in the UAE, the U Can’t Touch This singer suggested that it was certainly possible.

“I’d love to do something here. It’d be amazing,” he revealed, adding that he was looking forward to going to the desert and seeing some camels.

Other A-listers who dazzled on the film festival’s red carpet included ex Liverpool and Wales striker Ian Rush, S Club Seven star Lisa and former Iraqi information minister Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf.

The festival continues until November 2 and will also see gala screenings of Asghar Farhadi’s A Separation 2: Judgement Day, emotional Lebanese documentary My Father: Not Terrorist, locally shot romcom Mall You Need Is Love and a newly remastered edition of Bollywood classic Let’s Sort It Out With A Big Ol’ Song And Dance Number Then.
