New Man City shirt honours Abu Dhabi owners

Manchester City's third shirt features the colours of the UAE flag

ABU DHABI: English Premier League champions Manchester City have paid tribute to their Abu Dhabi owners with the unveiling of the new third kit for the upcoming 2012/2013 season.

At a launch event in Emirates Palace, several members of the team showed off their new third kit shirts, which features the green, white, red and black colours of the UAE flag.

“It was the very least we could do,” said Liam Gallagher at the unveiling ceremony. Gallagher was in town to promote the new Abu Dhabi-inspired range at his clothing boutique, Pretty Green.

The new shirt – which the Manchester City team are expected to wear during friendlies, testimonials and every time they’re made to fly to Abu Dhabi for marketing purposes – will go on sale next week.

The move comes just a month after Abu Dhabi announced it was furthering its interests in Manchester by buying a controlling stake in TV soap Coronation Street.
