Saudi woman thrilled to catch bouquet at public execution
RIYADH: A Saudi woman was said to be overjoyed earlier today when she caught a bouquet of flowers that had been thrown to a crowd during a Western-style public execution.
“It’s really a dream come true,” said Leila Mitwalli, a dental nurse from Riyadh. “Growing up, you watch all these movies where women catch [the bouquet] and then meet the perfect executioner. When it happens for real, you feel like a kid again!”
Mitwally’s family was thrilled at the news, pointing out that at 23 years old, she was at the prime age to be shot or beheaded with her remains placed on display in a public area.
“I couldn’t be more excited,” said her father, Hassan Mitwally. “Ever since she was born, I have always hoped that one day I’d get to see my little girl hung in the town square with a sign warning dissenters against political or social transgressions.”
After Mitwally caught the flowers, eyewitnesses said she enjoyed the rest of the execution, weeping with joy as she saw how beautiful the couple looked as the hooded woman was forced to bow before a man sharpening his blade.
