Spellcheck error sees percussion disaster in Saudi

A tom-tom drum, currently banned across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia due to a spell check mistake

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s thriving percussion and satellite navigation industries were in disarray last night after a spell check error by the religious police saw tomtoms instead of tomboys banned across the Kingdom.

Although authorities were quick to spot the mistake, bureaucratic regulations could mean it is weeks before tomtoms are eventually removed from the prohibited list.

“This is the day we all feared,” said Tito Bin Puente, head of the Jeddah Salsa Association.
