WHOOPS! Al Qaeda boss caught with rival grenade launcher to that of main weapon sponsor
In a PR blow for Colt, the terror boss was spotted sitting in front of a Wz. 1974 Pallad 40mm grenade launcher in a series of new videos calling for renewed attacks against Western targets, the brand he reportedly preferred before endorsing the Colt M203.
Colt brought on board the terrorist head-honcho in May to talk up the virtues of its single-shot breech-loaded M203 40mm grenade launcher and he was due to appear at several industry events later in the year, alongside a new television advert expected to run next spring.
Just last week, Al Zawahiri took to Twitter to praise the M203 for its lightweight design. ‘In the war against the infidel dogs, I cant thank the #M203 enough for helping reducing the load of my jihadist soldiers,’ he tweeted.
But although the videos were taken down from al Qaeda’s website within minutes of the gaffe being spotted and shared online by eager internet users, the mistake could well cost the organisation a deal said to be worth several million dollars.
While Colt is yet to make an official statement, a source said it was “currently reviewing its endorsement arrangement”.
