Saudi Mother “So Excited” to Pay $250 to Take Family to Cinema for First Time

Historic cinema opening finally gives Saudi woman the chance to contribute to Disney’s revenues.

A mother in Saudi Arabia has expressed her delight that the opening of cinemas for the first time in 35 years has finally allowed her to pay the equivalent of $250 to take her family to the movies.

“It’s just such a wonderful feeling to now be able to hand over the best part of half a week’s wages to take my children to see a film that we would otherwise have illegally downloaded and watch at home,” gushed Mira Johnson, a nurse in Riyadh.

“The cinema truly is a magical experience and I’m just so excited that I’ll now finally able to add my own small contribute to Disney’s bottom line. I understand they’ve been struggling recently.”
